Mr. Tewes has over 27 years of service as a Police Officer, Crime Scene Investigator, Criminalist and Crime Scene Analyst. Rich has developed and instructed over thirty courses in the disciplines of Crime Scene Analysis, Footwear Collection and Comparison, Bloodstain Pattern Analysis, Physical Evidence Recognition, Collection and Preservation and Crime Scene Chemical Applications.
Rich currently holds certifications for Senior Crime Scene Analyst (CSCSA) Footwear Examination (CFWE) and Bloodstain Pattern Analysis (CBPE), all sanctioned through the International Association for Identification. He is a court recognized expert in Bloodstain Pattern Analysis, Footwear Comparison and Identification, Fingerprint Identification and Crime Scene Analysis. Rich has researched, lectured and contributed to professional journals, conferences, association meetings and higher learning institutions.
Rich is currently serving as Vice President of the International Association of Bloodstain Pattern Analysts and is chair of the Ethics Committee. He has served on the SWGSTAIN document and education committees for IABPA, Chairman of the Education Committee, Vice-President and President for the Rocky Mountain Association of Bloodstain Pattern Analysts. Rich is an active member in the International Association for Identification, the Rocky Mountain Association of Bloodstain Pattern Analysts, and has been a member of the Association for Crime Scene Reconstruction, Rocky Mountain Division of IAI International Association of Property and Evidence and the Colorado IAPE. Rich is co-creator of the Colorado Forensic Footwear Information Network.
